ABC Stainless Ltd has been acknowledged as one of the UK's leading specialists in stainless steel fabrication since being established in 1981.

Our reputation for quality and excellence in the manufacture of stainless steel, nickel alloy and aluminium products is reflected in our client portfolio and spans many different industries, such as architectural, aerospace, waste water treatment, pharmaceutical, petrochemical, cosmetics, brewery, food and drink processing and off shore petroleum.

Mark's childhood involvement with motorcycles led to him training as a motorcycle technician after leaving school and later studying motorcycle repair and general technology at Cambridge College of Arts and Technology. For several years he worked as a technician before deciding that it was time for a change in direction, and following an offer of employment as a trainee welder fabricator (from a local businessman and biker associate), he embarked on a career in engineering, which was where he met Justin.

Whilst learning the trade 'on the tools', Mark became more and more interested in the technical drawing/CAD side of the company and when an unexpected opportunity to train as a CAD Draughtsman in the drawing office became available, he jumped at the chance!

Supplementing his training by studying 2D and 3D CAD at his local College, Mark continued to advance his career. After working on several prestigious architectural stainless steel projects, Mark joined ABC as a Design Draughtsman in 1996. Involvement in larger projects, continued studies and greater responsibilities ensured a rapid growth in Mark's experience and technical knowledge.

Mark and Justin have been co-owners and Directors of ABC Stainless since 2007.

Since leaving school, Justin has spent his entire working life in an engineering environment. He was employed by a local fabrication firm in 1991 where he met Mark McAuliffe (Now ABC Technical Director and co-owner). Having completed his apprenticeship as a fabricator/welder he very quickly progressed through the ranks, having natural ability to pick up new practical skills whilst learning the theoretical physics and mathematics involved in becoming a skilled craftsman. He gained more experience and expertise whilst working for a couple more fabrication companies specialising in high quality aluminium and stainless steel products. He joined ABC stainless Ltd in 2000 and again quickly progressed to works supervisor in 2005.

Justin and Mark teamed up to put together a successful buyout bid in 2007, following the announcement that the company's founder, Alan Bostock wished to retire. Justin and Mark have been in business together ever since and continue to uphold the traditional values of quality, excellence and reliability that have been at the core of ABC Stainless since 1981.

Martin Smith

Sales/General Manager

Martin joined ABC Stainless in 2003 as a Sales Executive, having previously been in the stainless steel industry from leaving school. His background in stainless includes completion of a 5 year apprenticeship as a welder/fabricator before progressing through the ranks to Workshop Foreman. Martin's excellent communication skills coupled with his broad knowledge of engineering made it a very easy transition from workshop to sales.

Martin excel`s in securing contracts, both large and small together with providing superb backup and support to all our customers. He has a variety of roles within the company including overall responsibility for the sales and estimating departments together with managing all company regulations, certifications, in-house training and procedures.

Rob Byford

Purchasing & Logistics

Rob joined our team as company buyer and logistics manager in 2011. He has worked in purchasing since 2001 and has a wealth of experience in the manufacturing industry, including contract negotiation, service level agreements and procurement.

Rob is responsible for all purchasing including materials for current projects, plant requirements both on-site and in-house, and outsourcing of specialist components and labour.Rob also plays a key role in ensuring that deadlines are met, from materials and components coming in to ABC to planning and organising our deliveries to customers nationwide.
